Sole Mates

I apologize for my slight blogging hiatus. I've been too preoccupied with reality. However, I've finally found a moment away from Atlanta apartment searching, Disney Pro Forma editing for a resort, and typical survival activities such as grocery shopping and laundry. So here I am. Its officially been 2 months since I've started my no clothing purchases for a year, and I'm still going strong. Quite the landmark moment!

...My shoe collection on the other hand has expanded. Though, I must say none of the shoes that I bought cost over $50, which is pretty dang good in my opinion. My attempts to stay fashionable while not breaking the bank will persist.

Here are my latest sole mates:

These two shoes will be great transition shoes throughout the seasons. They can be worn with shorts and skirts in the warmer months, and once a chill is in the air, pair them with tights or knit socks. Also, wear them with skinny jeans or a funky dress.

Sandals and oxfords like these will certainly be the hit this Spring and Summer. Grab a pair. Try interesting cuts and cool patterns. Don't think people won't look at your feet because they do. I mean how many people do you see walking around with their heads down texting on their phones? Lots. And what is all that they see while walking with their heads down? Shoes! Catch someone's eye with a statement pair of shoes. Maybe they'll take their eyes off their phone and give you a second look.

Oh Girl, You Are the Cat's Meow

When I was 16, I invested in a pair of Guess cat-eye sunglasses. I liked them a lot though they were hardly the trend at the time. You were cool if you had a pair of Jackie O-esque sunglasses with a large lens and frames in either black or white. A natural classic. Mine had small lenses, were far from a round shape, and were a dark tortoise shell color. The years passed and my lenses became scratched from everyday wear and tear bringing them to the point of replacement...and it's just my luck that cat-eye sunglasses are now in!

No Peeps Please

Easter is tomorrow! It's a time to wear those pastel colors, gather with family, go on an Easter egg hunt, and if you're so kind, give loved ones personal Easter baskets filled with goodies.

If you happen to do the latter and are pressed for creative ideas to add to the baskets, I have a few suggestions! No more plastic eggs filled with jelly beans or packs of pencils with rabbits and chicks on them and certainly no more PEEPS! They may look cute and the first bite might be yummy, but those marshmallow things fall short of what a real marshmallow should taste like and after eating one, you'd be so lucky as to feel good enough to eat another. But hey, if you love them...well, let's just say someone has to keep their business going.

So without much further ado and talk about Peeps, here are some treats that will make your basket receivers have a big smile on their faces.

Dang, what's that you're wearing?

Are you a social butterfly or someone who's just dang lucky? Do you find yourself throwing up the peace sign or do you deserve a spot on The Real Housewives of "All Eyes on Me" City?

If you answered yes to any of these questions then I have just the filler to celebrate making it through this week's hump day.

Tomorrow, Wednesday March 31st, Dang Chicks is hosting a launch party from 7-9pm at the Fab'rik at Lenox. There will be prizes such as Derma-Luxe facials and gift certificates to NY Prime Restaurants. Besides the chance to win prizes, there will be complimentary wine and Chocolate Pink cupcakes. Please, don't tell me none of that tickles your fancy...Well, if you need more of an incentive to check it out, Fab'rik will be putting on a private jean sale AND Dang Chicks will be releasing a new collection of shirts at the party. YOU could be the first to have one of their newest shirts. How dang cool would that be?

I myself would spring for the "Dang Happy" shirt featuring two of my favorite things: heels with a sale tag. Even thinking of that puts a smile on my face.

It's that time of the year when Spring Breakers hit the beaches, the city, and the couch. This year I will be cruising, one of my favorite ways to vacation. Currently, I have less than two hours to pack and then hit the road to my port of embarkment! (I probably shouldn't be writing a blog post at this point but whatevs.) I cannot wait!

The only thing I'm worried about is how I am going to stay on this shopping diet. Our ports of call are in Mexico and from what I've researched there are some cute, cheap shops there, just perfect for a little tease to my fasting. Maybe I should say a quick prayer to the fashion gods..."Dear fashion gods, though my eye may stray to beautiful huipils and modern, patterned quechquémitls, please keep my hands away from my pockets. The magic plastic card may not be swiped...or I guess in this case no spending of my pesos. Sincerely, K." Cross your fingers for me.

Well I better get back to packing, but before I leave here's a little inspiration for those of you hitting the beach and soaking up the sun.

I realize green might not be everyone's favorite color nor their first pick in creating a fashionable outfit, but I promise one day can be spared from donning your usual attire.

Putting a little green into your outfit might just be that breath of Spring that will renew and liven an outfit. And what better day than St. Patty's Day to wear green!
